This work belongs to the “RIO” painting series, created for the exhibition “Lost Gardens”. The series tells and interprets the memories of Lithuanian emigrants from Argentina who returned to Lithuania in the bleak year of 1956 – memories that have remained vivid in my mind and today take on a new form in the eyes of the viewer.

For me, as a child, a small, playful souvenir made of butterfly wings became a window into a world of fantasy. It stood out brightly against the grayness of Soviet daily life, leaving an indelible impression of joyful wonder. Today, I seek to convey that colorful, luminous experience through the language of abstract painting.
