‘International artists take over the Tabernacle art gallery’

Eight different artists from five different countries, with a myriad of experiences, have found
common ground in art and community.

Common Ground Collective celebrates graduation from Contemporary Art Academy’s four Post
Graduate (PG) modules. Brought together by the desire to establish good foundations, each artist
has completed the many professional development challenges the Contemporary Art Academy has
posed through lively zoom meetings and interactions with industry professionals.

The aim of Common Ground Collective is to bring a carefully curated selection of recent work to a
new audience in the multi-cultural community of Notting Hill. Many of the artists exhibiting have
been awarded for their creative work in recent years and have curated this exhibition as a
celebration of their shared love of art, the common thread that binds them together.

Artists contributing:
Birute Nomeda Stankuniene • Gillian Brett • Peter Monkman • Renate Maas • Sarmed Mirza • Susan
Wilson • Tina Roe • Valissa Butterworth

The exhibition will feature fine art abstract and figurative paintings, photography and sculpture.
From 24th to 28th June the exhibition will be open 10am to 6pm.

 ‘MIDSUMMER MEADOW’

My project for this exchibition explores the theme of fulfilment as an artist, and the energy that compels me to create.
As a metaphor, I envisioned an imaginary garden—a field woven from something as humble and domestic as a kitchen towel. This seemingly simple background becomes its own artwork, grounding the entire concept.

Each of my paintings emerges as a symbolic flower, blooming in this whimsical, textured meadow. Through the act of creation, I myself begin to blossom.
In this creative landscape, every brushstroke is a seed, every idea a sprout. The field flourishes with colours, forms, and emotions—manifestations of my inner world taking shape.

This is my meadow of becoming, where my art grows wild and true.
